The prices rise – the result of the monopolists’ uncontrolled activity

Rising costs on consumer goods worry many in Georgia. Among a slew of possible explanations for cost-of-living increases, some analysts argue that it’s industry monopolies causing problems. Monopolies or overwhelmingly dominant companies are operating in the electricity and gas industry, oil importing, railway transportation, and the communications industry among others, writes the newspaper Kviris Palitra.

The companies operating in these spheres can set up their own prices and the existence of the competition in the economic sector becomes the reason for inflation. (The newspaper Kviris Palitra.)

It can be said that Georgian government does not control the cost growth by the monopolists and the regulation companies take care of that though they have not been politically independent for a long time and the market regulation is revealed in the tariff rise. Thus finally only the consumers are damaged. They face a choice and are obliged to buy the only expensive production.
