Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover hit around USD 5 billion in the first half of 2007, according to data from the country’s State Customs Committee.

The balance of exports to imports is split nearly down the middle, with a trade surplus of just USD 77.9 million, according to the news agency Regnum. Azerbaijan trades with 127 countries around the world.

Inflation in the same period reached 17.4 percent. Head of the Economic Research Center Gubad Ibadoghlu says the biggest jump was in Baku, where inflation registered at just over 18 percent.
