The Georgian folk festival Art Gene just closed its fourth season. Did you go to the event this year? If so, what did you like and/or not like? Have you ever gone to this festival? If not, why?

“Oh, it was wonderful! I went there almost every day. I’m a fan of Zumba and Niaz Diasamidze. They are real Georgian singers. I went to this event the last several years, but this was the best Art Gene so far. I hope it continues long into the future.”
Nia, student, 20

“How could I not love this fantastic project?! I thank all the organizations that helped with it. Not only are our children traveling around Georgia, but many foreigners did too. I have some foreign friends who learned to love our culture through Art Gene, and I can’t say anything other than a big ‘thank you.’ The show was great on Sunday! I wish them all the success in the future for bigger and better projects.”
Irakli, manager, 26

“I’ve never gone to the festival, and now I’m really sorry I haven’t. My children were there and they couldn’t hide how much they loved it. Art Gene is a very good project and helps people to learn more about Georgian culture.”
Keti, teacher, 42

“Of course I’ve been. This is the only festival worth attending for Georgians, because it’s possible to listen to good folk music from all parts of Georgia—even those that don’t belong to us anymore.”
Vakho, artist, 27

“I wanted to go when it was in Tbilisi, but unfortunately I was out of town. But I attended the first day in Uplistsikhe and it was great! I went last year, when it was only in Tbilisi, but to tell you the truth, I like the idea more of promoting it in different parts of Georgia.”
Gio, student, 21

“I was there many days this year and really liked it—especially the day of Abkhazian folk arts. I’m from that region, and for me it was exciting. I love this project and am thankful to the organizers for it.”
Tamar, doctor, 44

“I love the concept of Art Gene. It’s very important for our youth to remember their roots—and they like the concerts, which makes me glad. I’ve never been, but I’d like to go.”
Iago, pensioner, 69

“Nope, I didn’t. Unfortunately, I missed the previous ones too. I welcome the idea, and the approach of taking the festival around the regions. I like watching the TV coverage, but I’ve never had the time or money to go myself.”
Nino, English specialist, 27

“Yes, I like it. It’s more than just good fun, it’s preserving our traditions. Still, I’ve never gone. I’m an IDP and a pensioner, so I don’t really feel like going to concerts.”
Guli, housewife, 67
