Turkey, Greece and Italy Cooperating on Gas Pipeline
By M. Alkhazashvili
(Translated by Diana Dundua)

Construction should start by 2011 on a Turkey–Greece–Italy (TGI) natural gas pipeline, writes the news agency Regnum. A pact is to be signed in Rome; the pipeline will bring Azerbaijani gas 212 kilometers from Turkey to the Italian capital, running partly underwater.

The pipeline is planned to move 11.5 billion cubic meters of gas each year. The US State Department has voiced its support for the project.
