QUESTION FOR CHILDREN: What is your favorite thing to do in summer? What do you do everyday? Will you take a vacation this year anywhere? Where’s your favorite place to go?

“Now I am on vacation but I am still in Tbilisi. My parents work and that’s why we are still here, but in August we are going to Batumi. I like the sea. It is my favorite place to spend a holiday. I like swimming a lot. As I am free, I spend most of the time at home playing on the computer but sometimes I read books.”
Nikusha, schoolboy, 15

“I spend my holidays with my grandparents in the village. I have a lot of friends there and we play football and have a lot of fun. My mother calls me everyday and tells me to read some books but I am a bit lazy and prefer playing with friends. In August, I am going to Kobuleti with my family.”
Gigi, schoolboy, 10

“Summer is the best, because there is no school and boring homework. It is always a problem for our family where to go for the holiday, because my sister and I want to go to the sea but my parents like the mountains—they say in the mountains there is fresh air and it’s nice and cool. Last year we were in Borjomi but this year I really hope we go to the sea. I wish I were 20 or 21 years old so I could go where I wanted.”
Nini, pupil, 13

“My favorite thing to do is to go to the village in summer, to my granny’s place. I have lots of friends there and always have a great time. At the end of the summer, my parents take me to the seaside and we spend some days there together. But really I prefer my granny’s village.”
Maiko, pupil, 12

“We always go to Borjomi. It is the nice town with mineral water. My mother says that it is good for our health. Also, the forest and river are near is Bakuriani. I love going there.”
Tata, pupil, 11

“Me and my brother go to my relative’s village near Surami. There are lots of people, having a rest there. We always see nice places and have lots of adventures. There is an old castle in Surami and beautiful churches and each has its own history. My relative told me a very sad history of Surami castle. But I love it anyway. It is my favorite place.”
Ika, schoolboy, 13

“I’m just doing nothing specific—playing around. I love to swim and play tennis. We either usually go to Borjomi or the seaside at Ureki. This year we are going to go to the sea. Actually I love both. I’d like to go to other places as well.”
Aleko, pupil, 12

“The best part of summer is that I don’t have to do routine home chores. I’m free to do whatever I feel like doing. Listen to music, play in the yard or on the computer with kids, sometimes I read adventure books. As for a vacation, it depends. We try to go to the sea for a couple of weeks or so. But most of the summer vacation we spend in the village, at our grandparents’. We can stay there as long as we want. The only bad thing about the village is that there is no computer there.”
Nika, schoolboy, 11

“It depends. If either parent has time, my sister and I go to park or the zoo, sometimes to the cinema. Also I love to knit and embroider. This year we don’t know yet. So far we are in Tbilisi, we’ll probably go somewhere in August, it will be the hottest then.”
Lika, schoolpupil, 8
