An airplane reportedly fired a missile at Georgian territory August 6. It landed, but did not explode, near a village just outside the South Ossetian conflict zone. Georgian authorities say it was Russian planes. Russia denies any involvement. South Ossetian secessionist authorities say it was a Georgian attack. Who do you think fired the missile and why?

"Of course Russia fired at our villages, who else would do such a terrible act? Russia is our enemy, as they've confirmed several times."
Eka, accountant, 27

"This is all because of bad leadership. Our president doesn't understand that bad Georgian-Russian relations cause a lot of problems for us as well as Russia. But actually, I think the Ossetians fired the missile."
Ika, sailor, 21

"Well, it's not easy to say who is really guilty in the incident. I don't believe what Russia says, but our government isn't exactly reliable either."
Zaza, lecturer, 35

"I was shocked when I heard this news. I really sympathize with the people living there, because they're in stressful conditions-they have no guarantees that something terrible won't happen tomorrow. I think Russians fired that missile, nothing else makes sense."
Mari, translator, 24

"Of course Russians did it. I mean, isn't it obvious? I think they want to escalate the situation. But we're used to this."
Eka, manager, 30

"I really don't know who bombed us. The Georgian side says that Russia did it and Russia blames Georgia. Until a careful investigation is carried out, it's too early to talk about anything. I don't think Georgia did it, though; our politicians don't need to deal with incidents like this."
Maka, philologist, 43

"I can't say who did it, but what's happening in the conflict zone is terrible. How long do we have to put up with things like this? The situation is getting more and more stressful."
Giga, driver, 50

"Every side is guilty. But what about the ordinary people who live in the conflict zone? The generations grow up with the sounds of fighting."
Elene, doctor, 39

"I think no one here has doubts that Russia was involved. But a more important question is whether our army is ready to handle this. What if someone attacks Tbilisi tomorrow? I doubt the army will be able to fight back."
Beka, journalist, 26
