Georgia's tourism industry ranked 66th most promising in the world

Georgia placed 66 among the 124 countries in World Economic Forum's Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index for 2007, reports the news agency Regnum. That's nothing worth bragging about for a country whose administration claims it is doing its utmost to develop the tourist industry. However, the ranking may be based on obsolete data as this year has seen particularly vigorous efforts in the tourism industry.

Still, Georgia can be proud that it is ranked highest of all the former Soviet Union countries-Russia came in at 68 and Armenia 74.
