Analyst says Georgia is unpredictable neighbor for Armenia

During a press conference on August 14 in Yerevan, US analyst Richard Kirakosian described Georgia as an "unpredictable" neighbor which uses its geographic location "as a kind of bridge between Armenia and Russia," according to the news agency Regnum.

He also commented that Turkey's entry into the EU could be good for Armenia, as it would entail a decrease in military reserves making Turkey less of a military threat to Armenia.

Kirakosian remarked that with Georgia adopting a pro-Western standpoint and Azerbaijan looking to Central Asia, it is vitally important that Yerevan aims for European integration to avoid political isolation.

However, he added that the major threat Armenia faces is internal, in the form of corruption and poor management.
