Chestnuts trees to line Rustaveli Avenue
Chestnuts tree will replace the sycamore trees taken down by the city along Rustaveli Avenue in central Tbilisi, said head of Old Tbilisi district administration Lasha Purtskhvanidze.

He says the sycamore trees were in poor condition despite their nice appearance.

"Specialists concluded they were in bad shape," Purstkhvanidze said.

He said that chestnut trees would take their place, to be replanted every 15 years.

The district administrator said there are also plans for lots of flowers along Rustaveli Avenue.

Noghaideli visits Imereti
Prime Minister Zurab Noghaideli was to visit the western province of Imereti on Tuesday.

On the itinerary were visits to a secondary school in Chiatura, a swimming pool, a wood reprocessing plant and mines, as well as a tour of work being done on the water system.

In Zestafoni, Noghaideli will visit Zestafoni JSC and Georgian Manganese JSC.

Inmate dies from tuberculosis
Mamuka S. died in the Prison Department's medical ward.

Ministry of Justice representatives said that the inmate was suffering from tuberculosis, hepatitis, ascites and cirrhosis. He died from complications arising from tuberculosis.

The man was arrested in October, 2006 for robbery, and sentenced to seven years' imprisonment.

Enforcement Department carries out regional inspections
The Justice Ministry's Enforcement Department of the Ministry of Justice is continuing its monitoring of regional government organizations.

Tamar Barbakadze, deputy head of the department, was dispatched to Samtskhe-Javakheti. Barbakadze will inspect the local enforcement bureau.

The department will focus on budgetary enforcement; its inspection of Samtskhe-Javakheti should finish by next week.

Two injured in Tbilisi building collapse
Two people were injured when a building collapsed on Eristavi Street in Tbilisi. The building formerly housed the Professional Technical Secondary School.

Both of the injured are hospitalized in stable health.

Ten IDP families lived in the building, which was falling into disrepair.

Minister of Internal Affairs Vano Merbashvili and Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava inspected the scene of the accident.

The IDPs may be put up in a nearby kindergarten until other accommodation is found for them.
