Tbilisi Mayor to reopen Sport Palace
Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava opened the renovated Sport Palace building on Wednesday.
Tbilisi City Hall said the first stage of reconstruction of Sport Palace has been successfully accomplished. The playground has been enlarged and its surface has been changed to meet international standards.
The outside of the Sport Palace has been reconstructed, and ventilation systems and central heating have been installed.

Rally demands moving Telavi military training grounds
The population of Kvareli region will organize a rally demanding either moving the Telavi military reservist training range in the village of Shakriani or enhancing security measures.
Residents of the villages of Gremi, Gredzelichala and Eniseli said they would attend the rally.
According to the locals, Grdzelichala residents often experience near-misses with shots fired from the training grounds.
Locals say they often find bullets in their gardens, and have received no help from the local government.

People's Front evicted from Tbilisi office
On Tuesday, the opposition party People's Front was expelled from its office in Tbilisi. The party rented its office in a building on Pushkin Street near Freedom Square.
According to party leader Nodar Natadze, his party intended to struggle for its rights in Strasbourg.
That same night, the National Independence Party was evicted from its office on Machabeli Street by the Ministry of Economic Development.

Salome Zourabichvili blasts officials for evicting Union of Writers
Salome Zourabichvili, leader of the political party Georgia's Way, criticized the Economic Development Ministry for evicting the Union of Writers from a building on Machabeli Street in the center of Tbilisi.
"This is one more confirmation of the infringement of private property. The building where the Union of Writers of Georgia was placed was its property completely. The building was granted to Georgian writers," Zourabichvili said.
The building, built in 1905, was handed over to the Union of Writers by famous Georgian patron David Sarajishvili. On the night of August 21, Tbilisi municipality officers evicted the Union of Writers pursuant to an Economic Development Ministry decision.

Gori and Tskhinvali Universities to be joined, says Lomaia
Gori and Tskhinvali State Universities will be united soon, said Education Minister Kakha Lomaia in a cabinet meeting.
The united university would be located in Gori, he clarified.
Lomaia explained that the amalgamation would not mean a decrease of the number of lectures. "All employees of both universities will work and all the students will study," he said.
According to Lomaia, this is part of a governmental program of consolidation that is aimed to improve the quality of education.

Norwegian soloists perform at Tbilisi opera
A joint gala concert with the participation of soloists from Tbilisi and Oslo will be held at Zakaria Paliashvili State Opera and Ballet Theater on September 7.
Georgian opera would be presented by famous Georgian soloists. Works of Grieg, Geier, and Verdi will be presented during the concert.
Norwegian conductor Cayle Seim will lead the concert.
