Remittances equivalent to 20 percent of Georgia’s GDP, UN report says

Georgian migrant workers abroad send home the equivalent of 20 percent of the country’s GDP, according to a recent study by the UN Agricultural Development Fund, the newspaper 24 Saati writes.

In Armenia, the figure is 18.5 percent and in Azerbaijan 9.3 percent. Russia’s dependency on remittances was far lower, equal to 1.4 percent of its GDP.
