JCC session scheduled for Tbilisi on October 23–24
The next session of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on the South Ossetian conflict will be held at the OSCE’s Tbilisi office on October 23–24, according to Russian media.
Yuri Popov, Russian JCC co-chair, commented that numerous issues will be covered.
“We will discuss security issues, the work of the Russian peacekeepers, improving checkpoints, possible fortifications, and cooperation of the law enforcement bodies,” Popov said.
The Russian delegation is scheduled to arrive in Tbilisi today.
Despite a number of scheduled meetings, it has been more than a year since all four co-chairs attended a JCC session.

Georgia participates in Black Sea border departments meeting
A delegation from Georgia is due to participate in the eighth meeting of the heads of border departments from countries in the Black Sea region in Bulgaria on October 22–25.
The Border Department’s press service announced Lieutenant-General Badri Bitsadze will discuss the possibility of future cooperation with the other representatives at the conference.
The Georgian delegation will also make a report on the results of cooperation in combating the smuggling of radioactive substances in the Black Sea region.
A joint protocol will be signed at the end of the meeting.

Transference of American medical aid finished 
The transference of American medical aid to facilities in Tbilisi has finished, according to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Affairs.
A massive delivery of medical equipment was delivered to Georgia on September 14, the largest shipment since the country gained independence. The total cost of the project was USD 25 million.

Two Georgians wounded in Turkey bus assault
Two Georgian citizens were wounded in an attack on a passenger bus in Turkey, according to Mze TV.
The victims were named as Shirvan Akhmedov, 24, and Vasib Gasanov, 22. One was seriously injured and the other suffered superficial wounds.
The bus was traveling from Rize to Kaizer; the incident occurred about 14 kilometers from the city of Samsun.
Witnesses reported two Turkish men opened fire on the bus.

Three injured after gas leak in Tbilisi flat
On Saturday, three people suffered burns from an explosion caused by a natural gas leak in Bagrationi Street, Didube district.
The gas supply to the local area was recently turned off and it is suspected that a resident left on an appliance, causing an apartment to fill with gas when the supply was turned back on.
Neighbors, smelling the gas, entered the residence at which point it exploded.
Three fire engines attended the blaze and controlled the fire in ten minutes. The victims, one of whom suffered burns over half of his body, were taken to the Tbilisi Burn Center.

Passenger buses in Upper Abkhazia
Passenger buses were due to start operating in Upper Abkhazia on Saturday, according to the press centre of the Abkhaz government-in-exile.
Malkhaz Akishbaia, government-in-exile head, and other government members were due to be the first passengers on the new service.
Thanks to the construction of the Chuberi-Sakeni road, which was unveiled by Saakashvili last week, the trip from Zugdidi to Ajara will take three hours, down from ten.
Three buses will run the route, with tickets priced at GEL 10.
