“Chile gives awards to two famous Georgians living in Russia”
Sakartvelos Respublika reports that well-known Georgian painter, sculptor and architect Zurab Tsereteli, rector of the Russian Academy of Arts, has been awarded the State Order of Chile.
At the award ceremony, Chilean Ambassador to Russia HE Augusto Parra said Tsereteli’s works display deep humanism, and expressed hope that they will be exhibited in Chile at some point.
In response, Tsereteli promised the ambassador he would create a sculpture for Chile in the near future.
Another ethnic Georgian, Vladimir Chkhikvadze, the head of the Security Department of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also received an award from the government of Chile. 

“Four lawyers join Jondi Baghaturia’s party”
The newspaper Akhali Taoba reports that four Georgian lawyers have joined opposition movement Kartuli Dasi.
The lawyers said they are frustrated with the country’s justice system.
 “Once and forever we must achieve justice in Georgia,” they explained.
At an October 30 press conference Kartuli Dasi leader Jondi Baghaturia commented that Georgian politics lacks professionals.
 “This will be profitable for our country, we need as many professionals as possible to be involved in politics,” he said.

“Tbilisi to be a business city”
A strategic development plan for Tbilisi was discussed at the Sakrebulo (city council) session on October 30.
With the support of the World Bank, the plan included transforming Tbilisi into a “business city.”
The overall development strategy was unanimously supported by the city council and it will receive a portion of the 2008 state budget.
 “Tbilisi as a business city will become more attractive for potential investors,” explained Zviad Archuadze, head of the Economic Policy Agency at Tbilisi City Hall.

 “Gigi Ugulava opens new mini-stadium in Didube-Chughureti district”
The newspaper Akhali Taoba reports that Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava officially opened another mini-stadium in Tbilisi.
Ugulava opened the latest facility in Didube-Chughureti district with a representative from Iberia Group, which financed the project.
Didube-Chughureti district now has nine mini-stadiums, and Tbilisi boasts a total of 49.
“This stadium was constructed as a private project and I want to thank the Iberia Group for this…We will continue to work towards our aim of giving the next generation an opportunity to be more healthy and fit,” Ugulava said at the opening ceremony.
According Iberia Group head and Georgian footballer Archil Arveladze, Didube-Chughureti district traditionally breeds good footballers, something he hopes will continue with the help of new facilities such as the one unveiled on Tuesday.

“Sergey Bagapsh supports opposition’s activities”
The newspaper Sakartvelos Respublika reports that Abkhaz de facto president Sergey Bagapsh supports the opposition coalition’s activities in Georgia.
“These events move the Georgian administration’s attention from Abkhazia and South Ossetia to other issues,” Bagapsh explained.
He added the more politically unstable Georgia is, the greater the chance of separatist regions being officially recognized.
“On this stage the Georgian united opposition ‘plays’ on behalf of Tskhinvali and Sokhumi,” the de facto leader said.
