Will you go to the rally on Friday?

“Yes, I will come to Tbilisi because I can’t stand our government. Me and my friends will stay until Sunday. We’re students so we’ll miss lectures but if we can help our people we are happy to do it.”
Irakli, student, 20, Batumi

“I arrived today in Tbilisi for the November 2 protest, with my husband. We have relatives here and together we’ll go to parliament to defend our rights.”
Inga, accountant, 47, Gori

“Oh, no…I don’t get involved in such stupid protests. This rally is pointless, because the government is better than the opposition. I support Saakashvili.”
Giorgi, sportsman, 26

“I have not decided yet, but my husband is going.”
Nana, teacher, 44

“My husband and I are pensioners; of course we’ll go as we live in terrible conditions. We have the ability to work but where are the jobs? Some young people can find jobs but we can’t. We went to rallies at the time of the Rose Revolution and cried “Misha, Misha!” but where is Misha now? I hope the opposition can help us.”
Ketevan, pensioner, 67, Kakheti

“I was going to go to the meeting, but yesterday my neighbor was chatting with me and said that there’ll be a riot, she said there’ll be many policemen who may start arresting supporters. So now I’m really afraid to go.”
Marina, unemployed, 51

“I wanted to go, despite the fact that I was supposed to work on Friday. But then I heard rumors that a lot of policeman will be there, including some plainclothes police who will be amongst the protesters. So now I’d rather stay home, incase something awful happens. I want to stay alive for my children.”
Julieta, librarian/cleaner, 66

“Something pretty bad is supposed to happen there.”
Matsatso, student, 20

“Although I share some of the oppositions’ demands I’m not going to the meeting. I’m not young and I’ll observe the developments from TV.”
Nidera, pensioner, 67
