“Georgian refugees in France publish report on political situation in Georgia”
Akhali Taoba reports that Georgian refugees in France have published a report on the recent political crisis in Georgia.
“We do not support the radical demands made by some political parties that would damage Georgia’s state interests,” the report says.
The report also outlines the refugees’ support of the key principals to strengthen Georgia’s sovereignty and freedom of speech and calls on governmental officials and the opposition to begin dialogue.
“Ramaz Sakvarelidze: candidates have equal chances in the presidential elections”
According to political analyst Ramaz Sakvarelidze the joint opposition candidate and current President Mikheil Saakashvili have equal chances in the January 5 presidential elections, Sakartvelos Respublika writes.
Sakvarelidze explained that recent events have damaged the president’s political image, but added that the opposition do not have much time to conduct a successful electoral campaign.
“It is practically impossible to predict what will happen on January 5. That it is only a matter of weeks away will work to Saakashvili’s advantage, although his image has been damaged by the events on November 2–7. So at the moment, the current president and the opposition candidate have equal chances,” Sakvarelidze concluded.
“Georgian and Turkish students in joint film project”
From November 9–15 Georgian and Turkish students will collaborate on a film project, as part of the Kars European Movie Festival.
The initiative has been organized by the Georgian Institute of Cinema and Theater and the University of Ankara.
According to the Georgian National Center of Cinematography the project is aimed at developing relations between Georgian and Turkish students.
Participants will spend a week shooting a short film in Kars and Ankara, which they will present to an audience at the end.
Professor Gia Gersamia and four students of Georgian Institute of Cinema and Theater have left for Ankara to take part in the event.
“Over the course of a week, Georgian and Turkish students will share their experiences with each other and this is important for both countries to establish friendly relations in the future,” a spokesperson said at the National Center of Cinematography.
