Tourists are flocking to Georgia, says the Tourism Department. The country is set to host 75 percent more visitors this year than last, with 350 000 tourists expected to visit Adjara alone.

The department was quick to rule out any commensurate rise in prices.

The newspaper Basta writes that most foreign tourists head for the provinces of Adjara and Svaneti, while domestic tourists amass along the Black Sea coast and the resort of Borjomi.

A hotel room in Batumi usually ranges from USD 40-115 a day, with higher prices for nearby Kvariati.

Trips to the mountains can be had for less: rooms in Borjomi run about GEL 60.
