Azerbaijan youth skeptical that oil and gas revenue benefits the public

62 percent of Azerbaijani youth believe that income generated from oil and gas reserves is misappropriated, while only ten percent believe that it benefits the public directly.

The independent ADAM Center, working with the National Endowment for Democracy, conducted interviews with thousands of Azerbaijanis aged between 18 and 30, to gauge their opinion on social conditions and political processes in their country.

Polling also showed that 25 percent of the youth consider Azerbaijan a 'free' country, 25 percent classify it as 'not free' and 33 percent as 'semi-free.'
