Tbilisi market shut down, one thousand vendors forced out
Late at night on August 4, Tbilisi City Supervision Service began dismantling the Dezertirebis Bazaar, giving the resident merchants little prior notice.
The merchants began to carry out their goods from the Dezertirebis Bazaar building after construction crews began to tear down the dilapidated facilities. (more)

Azerbaijan has fastest GDP growth in the CIS
Data from the first half of 2007 shows that Azerbaijan is leading among the CIS countries in terms of economic growth indicators. The country's GDP in the first half of 2007 is more than 35 percent over the figure from the first half of 2006. Armenia, second in the rankings, has a growth figure of less than half of Azerbaijan's. (more)

Greece a transit country for Azerbaijani natural gas
Greece will be a transit country for Azerbaijani natural gas deliveries to Europe, reports the news agency Regnum. The announcement came after the Greek and Azerbaijani economic development ministers signed an agreement in Baku. (more)
Azerbaijan youth skeptical that oil and gas revenue benefits the public
62 percent of Azerbaijani youth believe that income generated from oil and gas reserves is misappropriated, while only ten percent believe that it benefits the public directly. (more)
Kavkaz-Poti ferry deal
