50 companies want in on Turkish section of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad

About 50 companies plan to participate in the tender for the construction of the 76 kilometer-long Turkish segment of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad, writes the news agency Regnum. The tender is scheduled to take place on August 31. Competing companies include Tekfen, Alarko, Alcatel and Nuroi.

In February 2007, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey signed an agreement to start construction on the railroad.

The estimated total cost of the Turkish section is USD 200 million.
