An airplane reportedly fired a missile at Georgian territory August 6. It landed, but did not explode, near a village just outside the South Ossetian conflict zone. Georgian authorities say it was Russian planes. Russia denies any involvement. South Ossetian secessionist authorities say it was a Georgian attack. Who do you think fired the missile and why? Russian missile hits Georgian village, Tbilisi says
Russian airplanes launched a missile at a Georgian village on August 6, the Foreign Affairs Ministry claimed. Russian officials denied any involvement in the incident, described by Tbilisi authorities as an "act of aggression." (more)

50 companies want in on Turkish section of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad

About 50 companies plan to participate in the tender for the construction of the 76 kilometer-long Turkish segment of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad, writes the news agency Regnum. The tender is scheduled to take place on August 31. Competing companies include Tekfen, Alarko, Alcatel and Nuroi.
