City officials say they will double the number of buses in Tbilisi by next year.

Currently 548 buses run on 64 different routes in the capital, but city administrators plan to add another 510 buses by the end of the year, along with new routes.

Tbilisi City Hall is spending GEL 50 million on the new bus fleet.

“In 2008 Tbilisi will be fully equipped in terms of municipal transport,” Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava stated, according to the newspaper Rezonansi.
