2007 Armenian state budget increases, totaling USD 1.7 billion, went largely to defense spending, the news agency Regnum reports.
As a percentage of GDP, defense spending increased from 2.9 percent in 2006 to 3.1 percent in 2007, according to the Armenian National Statistics Department.
