On February 23, Prime Minister Lado Gurgenidze and deputy Agriculture Minister Bakur Kvezereli visited local enterprises in Kvemo Kartli province which have applied for the government’s low credit loan scheme.

Applicants included a poultry farm in Kumisi and a honey production plant in Teleti, according to the news agency Regnum. During the visit, Gurgenidze said increasing exports is a government priority and emphasized the importance of local production.

In December, the government announced plans to establish a GEL 300 million cheap credit bank that will provide long-term, low-credit loans to entrepreneurs. Officials hope it will encourage business expansion and create more jobs.
