Bricsnet to renovate Hotel Iveria

Bricsnet, a development company, announced on April 7 it will team up with Development Solutions LLC to renovate the Iveria Hotel into the new Radisson SAS Iveria Hotel.

“Bricsnet is proud to contribute on such an important project,” says Farid Jinian, chief executive officer. “The Hotel Iveria is an important character in history. Bricsnet is pleased to see it re-born.” The project is due to start early 2009 and will be operated by Rezidor SAS under the Radisson brand name.

The new 247-room hotel will include pools, a restaurant, ballroom and casino.



Bank of Georgia receives Global Finance Award

Bank of Georgia reported it has received the Global Finance Award as the Best Bank in Georgia 2008. Global Finance, a leading global capital markets magazine, publishes its awards annually for Best Emerging Market Banks in Asia.

“I am very pleased that we have, for the first time, received this prestigious award, which serves as a recognition of the bank’s accomplishments in recent years,” said Nikoloz Enukidze, chairman of the bank’s supervisory board.



bmi flights out of Heathrow’s T1 carry on smoothly

bmi’s Tbilisi office reported the airline is operating all flights as scheduled from its main hub at Terminal 1 at London’s Heathrow airport.

Terminal 1, which now has 40 percent less passengers to accommodate following BA’s move to Terminal 5, is running like clockwork.

Nigel Turner, bmi chief executive officer, said, “One in every eight flights at Heathrow is a bmi service and we have a punctuality record of over 90 percent flights on time, reaffirming our position as Heathrow’s most punctual British airline.”



NBG offers Internship Program to ESM Students

Acting president of the National Bank of Georgia David Amaghlobeli announced the bank is ready to attract successful graduates of the European School of Management, a Tbilisi business schools.

Amaghlobeli said the central bank is interested in establishing professional relationships with business schools functioning in Georgia. He offered ESM students an internship at NBG with a possible job offer in future.



MCG launches two new projects

On April 8 Millennium Challenge Georgia launched two projects in Samegrelo and Imereti provinces.

A greenhouse was opened in the village of Urta, Zugdidi district, which will produce tomatoes and cucumbers.

The second project, a poultry farm in Samtredia, will supply western Georgia with chickens and fertilized eggs.

In the framework of the Agribusiness Development Activity Project of the Millennium Challenge Program, so far up to 68 projects have been approved with total value of USD 2.9 million.
