Stroh rum splashes into Tbilisi

The city’s younger party set packed out Night Office on April 12 for a party put on by the distributors of a walloping Austrian rum.

Italy’s Luca Bacchetti served up house and techno, while the club’s bartenders doled out fiery concoctions with Stroh, the spiced rum touting itself as the “spirit of Austria.”

The liquor certainly has spirit. Available at a head-crunching 160 proof, the aromatic Stroh mixes well but doesn’t let you forget what you’re drinking.

The glammed-up teenage clubbers were a world away from the video clips of alpine Austria—and while none of the revelers are likely to hit the Alps this spring, Austria’s invigorating rum is now let loose in Georgia.
