Georgia denies involvement in South Ossetia blasts

Georgia was not behind explosions in the village of Tamarasheni, South Ossetia, on June 11, the commander of Georgian peacekeeping forces Mamuka Kurashvili said yesterday.

De facto South Ossetian authorities say the explosions were the result of Georgian forces carrying out a mortar attack.

Vladimir Ivanov of the joint peacekeeping forces, said the incident was a a Georgian provocation.

Four hurt in building collapse

Four family members have been admitted to hospital when their Tbilisi apartment block collapsed.

Before the collapse they reportedly heard an explosion in the basement of the building which has been blamed on a gas leak.

Georgians give blood for International Blood Donor Day

A blood donation campaign across Georgia is underway, ahead of International Donor Day on June 14.

Georgian MPs and Tbilisi City Hall officials donated blood yesterday, the Health Ministry said.
