“Father and son’s condition extremely bad”

Sakartvelos Respublika reports that a father and son are in grave condition after a building collapsed in Samgori district, Tbilisi:

Citizens Elguja Kobakhidze and his son Rostom Kobakhidze are in a bad condition.

According to a doctor, Nino Rochinashvili, the pair under went difficult operations for their head injuries.

They are both in intensive care.



“The ecological situation in Abkhazia is catastrophic”

A priority of the parliamentary committee on the environment will be protecting nature in Abkhazia from ecological catastrophe, Sakartvelos Respublika writes:

Akaki Bobokhidze, the newly elected head of the parliamentary committee said this during its first session. According to him there is a very difficult situation in Abkhazia and the region faces ecological catastrophe.

The working group was created especially for this issue and they said they will work very actively and will try to set up a monitoring body under the aegis of the EU and UN.

At the same session Bobokhidze also named his deputies: former environment minister Zaza Gamtsemlidze and MP Giorgi Imnadze.



“Miss Georgia will be held in Batumi”

Miss Georgia 2008 will be held in Batumi on July 26, Akhali Taoba reports:

According to the competition organizer, Image Center, auditions are being held around Georgia, in Adjara, Iereti, Smegrelo, Kakheti, Shida Kartli and so on.

Girls aged between 17 to 24 can take part.

Miss Georgia 2008 will win a Peugeot car from Iberia Motors.



“Mamradze and Kherkheulidze will defend human rights”

The deputies of the parliamentary committee on human rights will be Petre Mamradze and Eka Kherkheulidze, Sakartvelos Respublika writes:

The head of the committee, Gia Arsenishvili, said it will work in every direction and pay particular attention to homeless children. He said it will actively help them.
