“24-year-old man was killed”

Sakartvelos Respublika reports that a man was killed in an altercation in Telavi:

“24-year-old Goga Bolkvadze was killed after a dispute with Zaza Mezvrishvili. Mezvrishvili wounded Boklvadze in the heart and then fled.

Police found Bolkvadze in an uninhabited party of Telavi. Mezvrishvili has already been arrested and Kakheti police are undertaking an investigation.

It should be noted that the crime in the region has been rife recently. Young people are killed almost every day in Kakheti.”

“Drivers were rewarded for participating in carousels”

Sakartvelos Respublika reports that the Labor Party claims marshrutka drivers helped ferry government supporters to multiple polling stations for ‘carousel voting’ in last month’s elections, and are now being rewarded with permission to hike their fares.

“Labor claims the authorities have given marshrutka drivers the right to increase their fares because the drivers participated in carousels during the elections.

Labor member Kakha Dzagania said this at a press conference. He said he received information about the price hike from drivers.

He also said there is video evidence that shows marshrutka drivers taking people from one election district to another.

Marshrutka fares are set to increase by 20 tetri in Tbilisi.”

“Ex-speaker of parliament has the right to be in politics as well as the potential”

Ruling party MP Gigi Tsereteli does not rule out former parliamentary speaker Nino Burjanadze returning to politics, Alia reports:

“Tsereteli says she has the right to be in politics as well as the potential.

According to him Burjanadze may take some time out and set up a fund, and she will surround herself with friends and like-minded people and then return to politics because a good team in politics is very important.

‘I think that Burjanadze should be at our country’s service because she has lots of experience and resources,’ Tsereteli said.”
