Saakashvili in Germany

Yesterday President Mikheil Saakashvili arrived in Germany where he will meet Chancellor Angela Merkel on June 25.

Germany was one of the NATO members opposed to granting Georgia a Membership Action Plan, the next stage of integration into the alliance, at the Bucharest summit in April.

Tbilisi hopes to gain Germany’s support before NATO foreign ministers meet to discuss the progress Georgian and Ukraine have made at the end of this year.

Saakashvili will return on June 25.
