Bank assets grow 16 percent so far this year

The total assets of the 22 banks operating in Georgia were over GEL 8 billion by June 1, a 16 percent increase since January, the National Bank of Georgia has announced.

The total profit of commercial banks was over GEL 50 million from January–May.

Between the end of May 2007 the end of May this year commercial bank loans increased 60 percent to reach over GEL 5 billion, the central bank said.
