“Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia blesses Georgian soldiers”

24 Saati writes that Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II blessed Georgian soldiers on Sunday in Holy Trinity cathedral.

“Don’t be afraid. Sorrow is transient. With God’s wish sorrow will be replaced by gladness,” the Patriarch said.

“Georgian singers shoot a short film of a song about Russian aggression”

Akhali Taoba reports that Georgian singers have united to write a song dedicated to Georgian soldiers fighting in the war.

42 Georgian singers, including Nani Bregvadze, Anri Jokhadze, Eka Mamaladze, Merab Sepashvili and Sopho Khalvashi, have written a patriotic hymn about victory and peace and made a film of them singing it together. This, they feel, is their way of making a contribution to the war effort.

“We decided to somehow encourage our soldiers and also to show respect to those soldiers who became the victims of Russian aggression. We believe that peace will come soon,” the Georgian singers stated.

“Kaladze’s fund helps IDPs from conflict zone”

The fund established by Georgian footballer Kakha Kaladze continues to receive donations from people seeking to assist IDPs from the conflict zone, Akhali Taoba reports.

Kala Foundation, which administers the discrete fund, has published the following statement on its website: “The recent war in Georgia has produced very serious devastation: the dramatic images transmitted by television stations worldwide confirm how worrying the situation is in the Caucasian country. At the moment the situation for the many wounded in need of assistance is critical, and a high number of refugees (an estimate has counted about 180,000) are moving, looking for help, towards the capital Tbilisi, after the abandonment of the conflict areas and the subsequent military actions in Gori, Tskhinvali and others villages close to Ossetia.

“International diplomacy, together with the parties to the conflict, is elaborating a strategy that will guarantee stability and peace in the region, but now it is important to be close to the populations affected by the bombing. International solidarity has already brought about massive aid interventions that aim to bring comfort and assistance to the wounded and those who have lost all their goods, crushed by grief and despair, without any possibility of communicating with family survivors.

“Kala Foundation offers itself as an important link in the humanitarian chain and wants to make a significant and decisive contribution to reviving the country immediately. Of course, the people affected by this conflict need everything and we need all of you: a small amount of help is a drop that, united to so many others, has great meaning. Food, blankets, medicines, beds and hygiene articles: everything is welcome in the quest to help the refugees and ensure first class assistance for the sick and wounded.

“Kakha Kaladze, the inspiration of this Foundation, loves his country and guarantees the correct use and destination of all that will be collected for these unfortunate people. We offer many thanks to those who will want to show solidarity with their Georgian brothers at this tumultuous time.”
