Humanitarian assistance should be transparent and well targeted

Russian aggression has created an extra 100,000 IDPs in Georgia, and there may be a lot more to come as the occupation is still underway.

The country is receiving urgent humanitarian aid from all sides and is grateful to everyone who helps Georgia in this desperate time. The amount of assistance received increases daily and, as commentators suggest, serious efforts are now needed to create a distribution system which is well designed and transparent.

So far, as analyst Soso Tsiskarishvili, observes the administration is carrying out everything in an appropriate way and cargo is distributed to well targeted recipients. However the inflow of necessary items and food is increasing. Foundations which accumulate donations for the IDPs, like that generously initiated by TBC Bank, have also been established. These require accurate and professional monitoring so that not a single tetri is wasted and the suffering population can receive proper relief.
