Georgia loses up to GEL 10 billion

Monday, September 22
GEL 10 million is the figure economic analyst David Narmania estimates Georgia has lost as a result of the Russian aggression. This sum was arrived at by measuring both tangible and intangible indicators in the areas of military hardware, civil structures, the economic infrastructure and the environment. He thinks Georgia will need 3-4 years at least to recover from the present situation.

Narmania states that the current budgetary increase is not enough to address the crisis and that the promised assistance from abroad will go to help IDPs and not economic development. The aid could cause macroeconomic instability if spent unwisely and create inflation.
