Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan functioning well

Tuesday, September 30
In August the Russian media intensively speculated about the closure of the BTC oil pipeline. However, despite Russian attempts to block or at least discredit the transit route, it has resumed functioning at full capacity.

The pipeline’s work was suspended for a few days in early August due to a fire in Turkey. Later the Russian aggression extended this suspension by several more days. However this suspension period gave operator BP the opportunity to carry out repair works on the pipeline.

In August, for the abovementioned reasons, only half the usual amount of oil was transported through the pipeline. Azerbaijan lost about USD 1 billion as a result. However this loss will be offset by the return of the pipeline to full operation.
