Saakashvili still very popular, says research

Monday, October 27
The International Republican Institute (IRI), an America democracy-fostering initiative active in Georgia, has conducted a sociological research exercise, one element of which was asking people how they rated different politicians. The results of the exercise will not be made public, however the Alia newspaper has issued what it says is the rating of politicians included in this research.

Alia says that the research shows that Mikheil Saakashvili is still the most popular politician in Georgia, with 51% naming him as their favourite politician. Giorgi Targamadze is the second most popular, with 8%, followed by Irakli Okruashvili and Nino Burjanadze on 5% each, Shalva Natelashvili on 4%, David Gamkrelidze and Levan Gachechiladze on 3% each and David Usupashvili on 2%. 8% of those questioned didn’t like any politicians and 0.1 percent said they could not make a choice.
