Agriculture sector accounts for less than 10 % of Azerbaijan’s GDP

Monday, November 3
Currently only 8.3 % of Azerbaijan’s GDP derives from agriculture, according to Deputy Agriculture Minister of Azerbaijan Aslan Aslanov.

The Minister says that over half of the Azeri population lives in the countryside, and out of 3.8 million employed people 1.5 million, i.e. 39 %, are employed in the agriculture sector. 52% of Azeri land is valid for agriculture. Yet despite that fact that the state pays special attention to the agriculture sphere, production is relatively low, as it has not been able to account for 10% of the country’s GDP.
