Azerbaijan increasing transportation capacity

During the first nine months of 2008 Azerbaijan transported 35.6 million tonnes of cargo, slightly more than last year. Azerbaijan also transported 142 million passengers, 6% more than last year.

55.3% of the transported cargo went by rail, 31.2% by road and 13.5% by sea. Of the total transported cargo 8.4 million tonnes was goods in transit. The total transportation income of the country was USD 240.7 million.
