Azeri citizens don’t feel world crises are affecting them

Ali Hasanov from the Azerbaijani President’s Executive Office has stated that ordinary Azeri citizens so far don’t feel the world economic crises are affecting them.

The state structures are pressurised by international finance centres as the country is in direct contact with world financial structures, the IMF, WB and other organisations. Currently Azerbaijan has significant currency reserves – around USD 17 billion - in international banks. Therefore the country can look after its population.

The crisis has not touched the people. There is no wholesale cutting of jobs or closure of enterprises, Hasanov said.
