South Caucasus stability pact: different views

By Messenger Staff
Thursday, January 29
On January 26 Istanbul hosted representatives of the Foreign Ministries of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia and Turkey who discussed the issue of the proposed South Caucasus Stability Platform.

Stability and security issues in the region are seen differently by different countries’ representatives. No consensus was achieved on the Istanbul proposals and no general declaration was issued.

The South Caucasus Stability Platform was suggested on August 12 by the Prime Minister of Turkey. An extra player, Iran, thinks it should also participate in any agreed platform.
