From February 2009 a new ferryboat route will be established between Kerch (Ukraine) and Poti (Georgia). The Chairman of the Crimea Council of Ministers, Viktor Plakida, stated this on January 28.

The ferry line is an initiative of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers, taken in December 2008. According to projections the Kerch-Poti ferry should transport more than 700,000 tonnes of cargo and more than 6,000 passengers in both directions annually.
