Unemployment in Armenia

The Ministry of Labour and Social Issues of Armenia has published the information that as of January 1, 2009 more than 90,000 citizens were registered in the Employment State Service Agency and of this number more than 70,000 are unemployed.

The Cabinet of Ministers stated on February 3 that 43% of the unemployed are involved in the job search programme and the agency is looking for jobs for them.

It should be noted that in 2008, the agency managed to employee 8,657 people in different jobs, of whom 20% were youngsters.
