Ruben Safrastian, Director of the Armenian Institute of Oriental Studies, stated on February 21 in Yerevan that the Caucasus stability and security platform is not a viable project. He suggested that negotiations on the platform will be continued but nothing would come of them.

Safrastian highlighted that the relationships between Russia and Georgia, as well as Armenia and Azerbaijan, are tense and that this initiative would mostly benefit Russia and Turkey. Russia is happy that the US is not participating in this project and Turkey is merely bolstering its position in the region, thinks Ruben Safrastian.
