The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Georgia has presented an exhibition of children’s book illustrations made by famous Czech authors.

HE Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Georgia Ivan Jestrab opened the exhibition, which had already been held in many countries before being opened at the Elene Akhvlediani Georgian Children’s Art Gallery in Tbilisi on March 16.

“We have brought the works of famous Czech children’s book illustrators and present both frames of famous Czech cartoons and independent works,” Ambassador Jestrab told The Messenger. He also noted that Czech and older Czechoslovakian cartoons are quite popular in post-Soviet countries like Georgia. “This exhibition is a part of the cultural programme conducted by the Czech Republic under its EU Chairmanship in 2009,” said the Ambassador, expressing the hope that the process of cultural cooperation between Georgia and the Czech Republic will continue even more successfully than at present.
