The construction of a new nuclear power station in Armenia will be conducted after an open tender and any country, including Turkey, can participate in this, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Armen Movsesian stated on March 20.

Armenia made an analogous statement some time ago and so far Ankara has not expressed any official desire to participate in the tender. However Movsesian states that preliminary work is underway on the possibility of transmitting electricity to Turkey from Armenia. He also said that 1 kilowatt energy would cost Turkey 5.7 cents.

According to an agreement between the two countries Armenia should supply Turkey with 1.5 billion kilowatt hours of electrical energy, and this will later increase to 3.5 billion kilowatt hours.
