ICC-Georgia signs a cooperation charter with the Ministry of Finance

ICC-Georgia and several other business organizations have signed a Cooperation Charter with the Ministry of Finance. The forum this creates will enable businesses to be more actively involved in policy making and engage in structured dialogue with the Ministry of Finance. The signatories will have the opportunity to regularly exchange information about important business and investment concerns.

ICC-Georgia has collaborated with the Ministry of Finance in several such forums in the past; the Deputy Minister of Finance has actively participated in ICC-Georgia's tax committee hearings. Thanks to this initiative all members of ICC-Georgia will have direct access to policy makers and greater involvement in the drafting of business-friendly legislation.

Under the Cooperation Charter the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and ICC members have agreed to coordinate their efforts and cooperate on economic growth facilitation, the improvement of the business environment and achieving the prosperity of Georgia. The Ministry of Finance of Georgia, having realized the importance of systemizing and institutionalizing dialogue between the public and private sectors, shall provide the business associations with information regarding forecast legislative changes and initiatives relevant to the Ministry’s activity. In order to refine the juridical system and improve the investment climate in the country, the business associations shall provide the Ministry of Finance of Georgia with information regarding the problems they have encountered while operating in the business sectors they represent and solutions to these. The Charter is written in the form of a Declaration and does not impose upon the signatories any liabilities.

ICC-Georgia is the Georgian national committee of the International Chamber of Commerce, a global business organization which unites hundreds of thousands of member companies from over 130 countries into a representative body which speaks with authority on behalf of businesses worldwide.
