In the first 5 months of 2009 Armenia decreased its production of brandy compared with the same period last year. However the country has increased the production of wines and champagne. Armenian brandy is a pride of the country and one of its export products.

In 1999 the Yerevan brandy-producing factory was sold to French company Pernot Ricard, which is the biggest exporter of this product currently. Last year the company produced 3.5 million litres of brandy and 70% of this was exported to Russia. The product is also exported to Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
