On June 30 a Russian business newspaper published the statements of Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Noureddin Shahnazi Zadeh concerning the prospects of Russia-Iran cooperation in natural gas and oil. He said a North-South transport corridor should be established to pump oil and gas from the Caspian basin, possibly 1 million barrels of oil daily. Russian companies could participate in this project not merely as transitors but co-owners of the transportation corridor.

Iran recently made amendments in its legislation which make it easier for investors to move their capital in and out of the country.
