Georgia has enough coins

The National Bank of Georgia has stated that it has enough reserves 1 and 2 lari and smaller coins and is ready to satisfy any demand. This statement became necessary because recently there has been greater demand for 1, 2 lari and smaller coins.

In the small shops around the city shop assistants are asking customers to pay the exact money and sometimes cannot change 50 and 100 lari banknotes. Analysts think that the main reason for the present situation is that ATM machines issue only larger value banknotes and most employed citizens have their salaries paid into the banks and use ATM machines. If this is the cause of the problem however it could easily be solved by banks supplying their customers with smaller coins.
