Which of the Ministers do you think is performing best?

Thursday, October 1
“The Interior Ministry and Ministry of Culture work properly I think. Since Rurua has been appointed Minister of Culture and Sport there have been some good cultural events. As for Merabishvili, he is professional in his work and I think Georgia has never had such an effective Interior Minister. I like Vashadze [Minister of Foreign Affairs] but recently Georgia has had some failures in foreign affairs and especially concerning war issues.”

“I am not satisfied with the performance of any of them and think that the whole Cabinet must be changed, but the major problem is that the current administration does not have sufficiently qualified and professional people to appoint to such positions.”
Tsira, housewife, 52

“I think the Minister of Reintegration, Temur Iakobashvili, performs really well. He is very confident in his speeches.”
Keti, journalist, 24

“I think Environment Minister Goga Khachidze is better than the others. It seems he is really doing his best to change things for the better in Georgia in terms of environment protection. Maybe other Ministers are also good, but so far I have noticed only Khachidze.”
Sopo, interpreter, 30

“Ministers change so quickly in Georgia that I can hardly remember who is Minister of what. I think the current Prime Minister Nika Gilauri is doing a good job. I remember he was a good Minister of Energy as well. He is young, motivated and energetic.”
Shalva, engineer, 48

“I like Subeliani’s performance most of all, as I believe in him and consider that this Minister really cares about poor people.”
Ana, pensioner, 65

“I don’t like any of them. I am trying now to name a single one, who might be better than others, but I really can’t say that any of them are good enough. I would like to see smart and educated people in Ministerial posts rather than inexperienced people.”
Alexander, pensioner, 64

“I like Vacheishvili (the former Minister of Culture) and Subeliani, as they are not populists, do not speak too much and do not make very strong statements towards even very radical opponents. For me, personally, these Ministers inspire trust.”
Temo, physicist, 25

“Vano Merabishvili [Interior Ministry] and his Ministry are the most influential and fulfil their duties well. Criminality has decreased significantly throughout Georgia, although this was the biggest problem in Georgia in previous years.”
