Which opposition leaders are the least acceptable to you?

Wednesday, November 25
“Unambiguously Levan Gachechiladze. Such people must not be in politics, but unfortunately in Georgia people with the money and opportunity do so. They have no clear idea how a politician should behave. It is terrifying when such people are striving for power and the President’s chair because if they got in there would again be corruption and thieves in law in the country. He cannot state his position and is completely undiplomatic but for some reason the public trust him. We can see how many people went to the protest actions to hear Levan Gachechiladze abusing President Saakashvili.”

“Shalva Natelashvili is an absolutely marginal person for me. He has been talking a lot but doing nothing in real life. I am fed up of hearing his eccentric statements every other day.”
Lela, accountant, 51

“I think the whole opposition are discredited right now. They have betrayed all the principles and promises they made in summer. I am pretty sure they have no prospects in Georgia. I am waiting for some real, strong opposition to appear in Georgian politics.”
Gia, unemployed, 43

“I dislike Eka Beselia. I have no personal or specific reasons for this, but it seems she is too ambitious, while she has not done anything so special while in opposition so far to merit support.”
Tea, doctor, 36

“Nino Burjanadze is the least acceptable person for me and there are lots of reasons for having such an attitude towards her. I will not talk about her sins as it is not my job but she is not a person Georgia needs to have in politics, even in opposition.”
Levan, student, 20

“There are plenty of politicians who I do not like and never support. I cannot distinguish one or two because they all look the same, as if they are in the same boat in the sea and do not now how to reach the shore. That’s why they are all irritated and angry, as they cannot agree on one way because they all have different opinions and ideas. Most probably no one wants to make any concession, which is very, very bad for the country.”
Maka, painter, 28

"To tell the truth I do not believe in either the Government or opposition in Georgia. All they know about is talk, and nothing more, unfortunately."
Gia, worker, 36

"Nino Burjanadze and Davit Gamkrelidze are the worst, they have changed their positions so many times that I cannot rely on them anymore."
Lia, housewife, 45
